Each temple run is a blind charge through a procedurally generated funhouse murder dungeon. These dungeons range in challenge from ‘leisurely, unhurried jog’ to ‘holy shit what the fuck’. And don't forget, that if you get reset to the front of a room because of a crush or fall, then the guardian is that much closer, or possibly where you will respawn and thus it will end your run.
Calm gives you a brief reprieve by banishing the guardian on a single floor, allowing you to focus solely on room hazards. I only recommend picking this up late in your run, especially if you plan to visit the Inferno.
